This morning I finished Some Like It Lethal by Nancy Martin, book three of her Blackbird Sisters Mystery series. These books center around Nora Blackbird, a special events reporter in Philadelphia, and her sisters Libby and Emma. In this novel, Nora is reporting on a fox hunting breakfast (fox hunting clubs get together for formal meals after early morning hunts) that is raising money for charity by charging non-members a fee to join the party. During the event, Nora's sister Emma is found unconscious in a stall in the horse barn and one of the men in the hunt is found bludgeoned to death. The two were also being blackmailed, as is several of the elite members of Philadelphia society. The novel follows Nora as she tries to clear her sister's name and figure out who is blackmailing everyone. She is also trying to deal with her relationship with a man that some feel is "beneath" her. All in all, this is a good book to read, especially if you need something fast paced and on the "lighter" side. The series is entertaining. I needed something lighter after reading The Poisonwood Bible.
The other books in the Blackbird Sisters series are:
Book 1 How to Murder a Millionaire, Book 2 Dead Girls Don't Wear Diamonds and Book 4 Cross Your Heart and Hope to Die, which I read before number 3.
